Joseph Lake Building Conservation and Restoration
For more than twenty years I have been directly concerned with the maintenance and repair of historic buildings in terms of their structures, their interiors, and the sites in which they are situated. These have included stately homes and their estates, cathedrals, parish churches and graveyards, castles, monastic sites, and many modest domestic and commercial properties. In this pursuit, I have been involved in the practical execution of work, as well as in the capacity of first line manager and contractor. In addition, I have advised in a range of sensitive conservation projects.
My training was principally in stonemasonry and lime plastering. Having spent a decade working for a highly regarded restoration company in Buckinghamshire, I have been developing my own advisory and contracting service since relocating to Lincolnshire in 2010.
In recent times I have carried out conservation work for both the Dean and Chapters of Lincoln and of Southwark. At Lincoln I am involved in continuing maintenance to the medieval and Georgian close houses. I have been involved in a range of tasks for Lincoln City Council, concentrating on their historic building profile, including areas of Roman walling, the 12 century St Mary's Guildhall, Beaumont Manor and sundry other sites.
